SeattlePI.Com: The NRA’s Olympia lobbyist defends ivory-handled guns, takes on ‘huge billionaire’ Paul Allen
Thursday, August 27, 2015
The #ExtinctionEconomy is earning the attention of the Seattle press corps (and the National Rifle Association).
Joel Connelly of Seattle.PI.com writes:
“The latest statements from the NRA’s man in Olympia come from a recording made earlier this summer at an Association-sponsored event in Federal Way. Initiative 1401 is, Judy argued, aimed at ivory. Supporters of the initiative say voters can make a statement heard around the world, in an era when an estimated 100,000 elephants were slaughtered between 2011 and 2014. Sale of ivory from elephants, poached from national parks in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has created an ‘Extinction Economy.’ Its chief beneficiary is one of Africa’s most brutal terrorist groups, the Lord’s Resistance Army, famous for press-ganging children into its ranks.”
